Glencar has confirmed its role as main contractor on the new £50m Minecraft World at Chessington World of Adventures.

Theme Park owner Merlin Entertainment said its latest attraction based on the video game is set to open in 2027.

Glencar has now gone public with its role after initial works started on site last month and the first steelwork for the main roller coaster has arrived.

The contractor said: “The scheme will bring one of the world’s most recognisable gaming brands to life – creating a fully immersive, experience-led destination.

“It’s a complex build. Large-scale foundations to support both the buildings and ride elements, detailed structural works, and carefully coordinated theming all need to come together within a live park environment.

“The project has recently reached a key milestone, with structural steelwork now underway and the development beginning to take shape above ground.

“It’s exactly the kind of project that plays to Glencar’s strengths – technically demanding, highly coordinated, and something a bit different.”
